About this last lens 17mm tilt shift ....i must Say that It Is perfect with Image quality, built and price. No complaint at all. The screws for the mounting don't provide enough grip and are difficult to tighten. Due to the large amount of heavy glass, the lens constantly shifts.

My dealings with the company to return a lens which isn't fit for purpose has led to huge frustration and stress, with no firm resolution

I’ve had an opportunity to use the Tilt-Shift 17mm F4 ASPH for a couple weeks now and would like to share my impressions. I’m breaking my review into two parts, Optical and mechanical qualities.

Optical Qualities: The optical performance of this lens is its real strength. Resolution, color rendition, distortion, and contrast are all quite good. Optically, this lens performs as well as lenses that I would associate with significantly higher price points. On optics alone this is a lens that should have a place in your camera bag.

Mechanical Qualities: While the lens standout optically, it does come up short on some mechanics of the tilt-shift mechanism. First off, the thumb screws are very small and it is difficult to achieve the level of tightness necessary to prevent the lens from slipping out of position. I think this is a combination of the size of the screw as well as there is very little grab in the clutch design to prevent the lens from suddenly shifting out of position. During two test sessions this happened numerous times. It is worth developing a habit of checking the screws and T/S position frequently before taking a shot. The rotation mechanism is quite good, but on my copy there is a 2% +/- misalignment between the shift and rotation that results in shift panoramas to have stepped edge that requires cropping. The 8mm shift is adequate, but my feeling is that the lens could probably give you another 2mm if the manufacturer chose to do so.

Overall: Despite the mechanical shortcomings, this lens is an excellent value and one I can recommend to other photographers.

The 17mm f/4 Tilt & Shift is the best tilt-shift lens I've ever tried. Unlike its more famous competitor, it offers better light resistance to the front element. The front element protrudes significantly, but this is compensated for by a plastic lens hood that can easily be installed in place of the plastic cap. The image quality is excellent, and the lens produces attractive starbursts in strong point lights.
In some cases, this can be a problem that can be solved by attaching a black mist filter. I'm very happy with the purchase; it's a very good value, especially considering that its most famous competitor costs six times as much.
