Beautiful lens with character

I bought this lens to have a longer focal length to complement my Helios 58. The 85mm Helios, as well as the original Zeiss 75mm on which this TTArtisan is based, were not an option due to budget constraints. The delivery was faster than expected, and the lens was securely and nicely packaged.

About the lens:
It’s not perfect. At f/1.5, it’s relatively soft, and chromatic aberrations are quite visible—but those are the only real criticisms. The swirly bokeh is incredibly beautiful and looks very natural. Even when stopping down to f/2.8, the lens retains its character while becoming significantly sharper. The build quality feels very high-end: heavy, but comfortable in the hand. Metal and glass. The focus ring operates smoothly despite some resistance.

Overall, I’m very happy with this lens and can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, high-quality, and robust lens with character—especially fans of vintage glass. TTArtisan’s decision to go with an M42 mount was a great choice, as it allows the lens to be adapted to almost any camera body, both digital and analog.

Beautiful lens, beautifully made, surmounting the Biotar 1.5 75 which is more than 70 years old. Pity that the diaphragm closes into the wrong direction. Maybe this can be corrected in a new edition.

Great Value/Great Lens

This was a great purchase. The lens perfectly captures the qualities of a classic Biotar, but with some modern improvements. Construction and overall qualities are outstanding.
