Absolute Surprise

I needed a macro lens for a small project and didn’t want to spend a small fortune. I’ve owned and used a variety of other, much more expensive macro lenses in the past so I do have a frame of reference for the comparison. This little lens far exceeded my expectations. It is very, very sharp and just what I needed to digitize a few film images. Constructed of metal, it is well built, tight and focuses well. The lens cap is a unique screw on cap! Speed of use is not its strong point, but for most macro subjects you’re not trying to follow focus anyway. If you can live with manual focus and a rather short focal length, this lens is a fantastic value.

It's widely acknowledged that many of us harbour a desire to capture beautiful macro photographs, appreciating the intricate details often unnoticed in our daily lives. In response to this interest, TTArtisan has introduced the 40mm Manual Focus lens. This lens features an all-metal construction, providing durability and a smooth focusing ring for easy adjustments. Additionally, it offers manual aperture control ranging from F2.8 to F16, granting photographers flexibility in achieving desired depth of field and exposure effects. This lens presents a reliable option for enthusiasts seeking to explore the world of macro photography with a sturdy and versatile tool.

The lens is available in a range of mounts, among which I'm currently testing the Fuji X-mount. Sony E-mount version. It's also compatible with Sony E-Mount, Canon EF-M, and M4/3 mounts. It's important to note that different camera systems have varying crop factors, which affect the lens's effective behaviour. In the case of Sony and Fuji, with a crop factor of 1.5x, the lens behaves like a 60mm lens on a full-frame camera. However, on Canon (with a 1.6x crop factor), it will be slightly longer at 64mm, and on Micro 4/3rds (with a 2x crop factor), it will be even longer, equivalent to an 80mm lens.

I opted to purchase directly from the TTartisan website, and the transaction process was exceptionally smooth. The courier service they utilize offers daily updates, allowing me to track the package's precise whereabouts seamlessly. This marks the third lens I've ordered from TTartisan, and each time, the delivery took just over a week, despite shipping all the way from China. Overall, I've had a consistently positive experience. Notably, the lens is impressively priced considering its high-quality construction and performance.
